CFS has limited storage space, so please call Dena Dyer at 367-4571 ext. 223 before donating. We can arrange pick-up of larger items and can set up a time for you to drop off smaller things. Thanks so much for thinking of us!
CFS has grown tremendously since the 1930’s, when the agency began as a compassionate Catholic response to the plight of panhandle residents during the Dust Bowl. Over the years the needs have changed-- and so has CFS. Two things have remained constant, however: delivering excellent services to people in need, and working hand in hand with area churches, non-profits, and schools.
Your gift will enable us to further our mission--providing food to the poor, affordable housing to those who cannot afford a home, and emergency shelter for youth who are in need of a safe environment. It will also help those who are new to our country become self-sufficient, productive citizens. We are so very grateful that you are joining us in our mission.
Be assured of good stewardship of your gift to Catholic Family Service, Inc. "Providing Help, Creating Hope" is not only our motto, but also our promise to you that your gift to CFS will indeed impact our clients. In providing this much-needed assistance, we help carry their burden. Lightening that burden, we instill hope for their future.
If you'd like to send a check, please make it out to "Catholic Family Service, Inc." and send it to:

You may designate a specific program, or leave it up to CFS to use your gift for the most pressing needs. If you'd like to make a credit or debit card donation by phone--or discuss other donations such as vehicles, memorials, wills, and trusts--please call Dena Dyer, Director of Communications and Development, at 806-376-4571, ext. 223.
Catholic Family Service, Inc. has created a fund to assist the Somali
victims of a December 30 accident with medical expenses. According to
the Amarillo Globe-News, at about 1:50 p.m. on the 30th, a Chevrolet
van carrying workers headed for the Excel meat packing plant in
Plainview was traveling southbound on Interstate 27 when the vehicle
hit some debris, swerved, overcorrected and rolled several times.
Twelve people were ejected from the van and were subsequently
transported to Northwest Texas Hospital. Three people — Amal Ashur,
Omar Abdi Qadir and Abdirizak Addulle Mohamed, 24, all of Amarillo —
were killed in the accident.
“Our hearts go out to the Somali community, and friends and family
members of the victims,” said Nancy Koons, Executive Director of CFS.
“We are praying for all those involved and would like to support them
by establishing this fund. This provides an opportunity for our
Amarillo community to rally around them with their support, love and
concern.”
All of the funds donated to this fund will go directly toward the
medical expenses incurred by the accident victims, Koons noted.
Donations can be sent to Catholic Family Service at PO Box 15127,
payable to “Refugee Accident Victim Fund”. Donations can be sent to
Amarillo National Bank, Refugee Accident Victim Fund, PO Box 1,
Amarillo TX 79105, Attn: Crystal 2nd Floor.
