The InterFaith Hunger Project (IFHP), a program provider for United Way of Amarillo/Canyon, provides a free monthly supply of healthy, nutritious food for those living on a fixed income—both senior citizens (age 55 and older) and the disabled. It has literally been a life-saver to thousands of low-income individuals in Amarillo.
Working with High Plains Food Bank, IFHP purchases food for its own small grocery store. Qualified and registered clients of the IFHP receive this food at no cost by “shopping” for their own selections.
Volunteers keep the store clean and in order, maintain all the records, handle reports, and interview potential clients to determine eligibility. They also deliver food and household necessities to clients who are unable to leave their homes.

IFHP always needs and appreciates able-bodied volunteers, as well as donations of household items and groceries (both perishable and non-perishable).
